As a child my dad was an alcoholic and growing up in an alcoholic home wasn't very pretty. There was alway a sense of tension, and never knowing when the next rage would happen. So as a child in that environment, I picked up into my own lifestyle of drinking and using drugs. Living a daily life on the streets surrounded with violence, theft and abuse. After many years of doing so, I was given a chance at a new life. In June of 1996, I was sentenced to rehab and have been clean and sober ever since. My wife and I decided to start our home and to help people in ways that we were helped. The gift is seeing the change in the lives of the people who we get to work with. If you or a loved one or just a friend are suffering and need a hand, take the initiative to reach out to them and to someone who has experience in this particular situation. Remember people can change if they are given the right direction, love and support that any 12-step offers. I believe we were all put on this earth in a way that is connected and that we should take the time to care for one another with love patience and understanding, that difference can be up to you. Together we all can make a change. Every little bit can help. Take the time to do something for someone else that is not as well off as you. Thank you Joel.
